    St Margaret’s at Cliffe

    One of our favourite areas to walk with Ben, our Bedlington Poodle, is on the cliffs at nearby St Margarets at Cliffe, with stunning views across the English Channel and over the dramatic cliffs Channel swimmers and submarine telephone cables start from St Margaret’s Bay. At the north end of the bay is Leathercote Point (sometimes spelt Leathercoat Point or Lethercote Point), where there is a war memorial commemorating the Dover Patrol.       Broadstairs Blues Bash is a FREE Blues music festival which is now into its eighth year. It takes place annually in mid-February in the Victorian sea-side town of Broadstairs in Kent, England, UK. In 2015 we put 45 local, national and international Blues acts into 14 venues in the town and the festival attracted several thousand people.     Chetna Makan Dinner at The Bay Tree

    We were very honoured tonight to have local Broadstairs celebrity cook, Chetna Makan, of BBC1’s Great British Bake Off fame, over for dinner tonight We started with scallops with wilted spinach and ginger and passion-fruit-infused Hollandaise sauce   We then had wild mushroom soup with a Swedish multi-grain loaf   This was followed by spiced Kentish cod with coriander and yoghurt mash and mini courgettes   Desert included pecan pie, served with a mandarin ice cream and a mango ice cream

      Robert, Alistair and Ben at The Bay Tree Broadstairs are delighted  and proud to announce that we have been successful in winning the Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards 2016 category of Luxury Sea View Hotel of the Year, Kent UK. Coming ahead of our forthcoming refit, commencing in February, when we will be working hard to make The Bay Tree even better than we already are, we are particularly pleased.     The Bay Tree Broadstairs Caravan

    We had a great day on Friday 22nd January – travelling to Essex to purchase Lucy, a Lunar Delta 450 Caravan Lucy will become our office as we get ready to vacate our building ready for our exciting forthcoming refit and transformation into a boutique hotel for Broadstairs Lucy will live under our Bay Tree, supposedly the largest and oldest bay tree in Kent, in our garden at the rear of our hotel We are very excited at watching Martin Parry, our handyman, transform Lucy and give her a new lease of life!

    London Array is the largest operational offshore wind farm in the world.It occupies an area of 100km2 in the outer Thames Estuary between the Kent and Essex coasts, in waters up to 25m deep. It has 175 3.6MW turbines, which are placed 650m to 1,200m apart and have a combined capacity of 630MW.
