The Bay Tree is very pleased to announce that our new chef, Vlod Slobodymir, started work as our new Head Chef on 10th August
Vlod was trained in London under Angela Hartnett for 3 years. He then returned to East Kent, initially working as a sous chef at Princes Golf Club, Sandwich. This was followed by becoming Head Chef at Bench Ramsgate where the business grew into 3 restaurants in the first year. Vlod followed this by covering as Head Chef on sickness leave for 3 months at the renowned Empire Rooms Ramsgate. Vlod has also opened the Cinque Ports Restaurant in Dreamland Margate and worked on the opening of The Old Post Office Ramsgate.
Vlod’s vision for The Bay Tree Restaurant, ideally situated directly overlooking Stone Bay and open all day for breakfasts, coffees, lunches, afternoon teas and dinners is to focus on a classic English menu.
Appetisers include home-baked bread and home-made onion butter, selection of fish cakes and croquettes.
Starters feature Charred Mackerel with potato and chives and Scotch Eggs with chorizo and piccalilli.
Mains, such as Pan Seared Cod with tomato and samphire and Lamb Rump, with black olive gnocchi, aubergine and salsa verde, make the most of local Kentish ingredients.
Guests can compliment their mains with side dishes such as hispi cabbage, triple-cooked chips, tenderstem broccoli and mixed salad which are ideal for sharing.
Classic deserts with an individual twist such as Cherry and Basil Souffle, with elderflower sorbet or Mars Bar Brownie with salted caramel ice cream make for an ideal desert to finish off a great meal.
