The Bay Tree Broadstairs is currently closed for a major refurbishment and will re-open in August 2017.
We regret having to announce to our guests, friends and colleagues that, owing to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to delay our opening until August.
We recently experienced heavy rain: parts of our roof are not yet fully sealed (owing to window extensions, roof windows, oriel windows and new roof tiling) and we suffered some water penetration. We are working to rectify and replace where damage has been incurred but this will unfortunately affect our timescales.
We are still reachable by phone 01843 862502 & email firstname.lastname@example.org for enquiries and future bookings.
The photos above show the hard work that James, our carpenter, is putting into creating our new stairs on the top floor with his colleague Mat. The ballustrades and bannisters have been completely rebuilt as there used to be boxing on the top floor for fire prevention which, with modern sprinklers, we no longer need
Parts of our stairs and landings have been completely rebuilt. We are using Oak, for it’s strength, and the borders of our stair runners and landings will all have a stunning oak border
This is some of the stunning oak we are using on our staircases and floors
In our sea-view restaurant, we have now started to complete our plastering
Our last area to get it’s wiring infrastructure, our kitchen, is now almost complete and ready for it’s specialist wall cladding and floors before fit-out
The new bathroom for Room 7, Walnut, where we have extended into the chimney and into the hidden area behind to expand this rear window and fit a new bath, is now almost complete
In other areas, our electrical fittings, such as these power sockets with USB charging points for guests to charge phones, tablets and mobile devices and data socket, to power digital in-room phones and Samsung Smart TVs, are almost ready
Ben has been finding time to explore the fields around nearby, beautiful Quex Park
Stone Bay, complete with lots of early-morning dog walkers, is looking stunning! Alistair, co-owner of The Bay Tree, can be seen in the blue shirt. The Bay Tree itself can be seen slightly to the left of his head, on the cliff-top
Viking Bay has been very busy over the late May Bank Holiday weekend.
Please be assured we are doing everything we can to accelerate the last parts of our refurbishment and reopen in mid-August so our guests can enjoy some of the summer with us.
We would like to thank our guests and colleagues for their patience during our unforeseen delays – we can promise it will will be worth the wait!
