The back of our buiding is really taking shape. On the left, nearest the existing building is the kitchen extension (beyond the white wall is the existing kitchen: that wall will come down to enlarge the kitchen space) and on the left nearest the camera is utility area. On the right, nearest the camera will be our accessible/ dog-friendly room with the bathroom beyond. You fan also glimpse the rear passage which will run throughout the building to the hall. We will match the floor in this passage with the original tiles we already have in the hall.
We will be going up 2 more floors above this ground floor level.
This is what the extension will be like once it is finished
This is the view from the 2nd floor of the hotel looking down on the accessible room bathroom, nearest the camera, the accessible room and, beyond, our bay tree
We’re making sure we insulate properly where we can so our guests are as cosy as possible!
Here’s a video of our builders mixing cement. Watch to the end as we look down our drive towards our fantastic sea view!
An example of our Roca flush sytems (Roca are part of the Swiss Laufen group, whose bathroom products we will be using throughout). This is shown going into a new wall where we’ve ajdusted our bathroom sizes.
We’ve also uncovered more retro-wall paper (this time in our first-floor sea-view room 5, above our restaurant and dining room
We are carefully keeping old tiles where we can and we’ll use them creatively in the refurbished hotel
Our builders have been using some pretty serious kit on our build
This is our fantastic sea view, as seen from our front scaffolding – just imagine looking out at this from our rooms and our sea-view restaurant and sea-view lounge once we reopen in May
