Bay Tree Broadstairs Refurbishment Week 59

The Bay Tree Broadstairs is currently closed for a major refurbishment and will re-open before Christmas 2017.

We’ve delayed re-opening owing to slower than anticipated progress with our refurbishment.

We’re now managing the remainder of our build (primarily decoration, second-fixes and snagging plus landscaping) ourselves along with a new site manager instead of through our original building contractors.

We would like to thank all of our guests for their patience – we will be open as soon as we can and we’re sure it’ll be worth the wait!

Ben has been surveying the view on top of our new wall out over Stone Bay! On the right is the infrastructure and wiring post for our new signage.

Looking to the north from our patio, the chalk cliffs on the edge of Stone Bay can be seen.

Our new sea-view patio has now been laid.

We are particularly pleased with our new sun-dial. The slabs against the wall are to complete the side path up from the Eastern Esplanade.

The bricks in front of the French windows to our sea-view restauarant are where we have been laying out the steps that will lead to the patio. As these doors open outwards we will place a small hand-rail in the centre of these steps.

Our porch is now almost complete.

This is one of the side units for the bar in our library (being constructed in a temporary workshop in our sea-view lounge).

On our top floor landing our stair furniture is almost complete.

This includes new oak floor and ceiling fixtures.

We also have new stair trims (these have not yet been varnished).

We have also been sourcing some more chandeliers for our bedrooms, such as this French Tole chandelier (the top of the three chandelier pictures above).

Roasted Parsnip Soup, spiced and served with a parsnip crisp – we’ve been busy perfecting our Christmas menu!

Ceviche St Jacques. marinated scallops with avocado and rocket – part of our Christmas menu.

Ben is still finding time to relax on nearby Botany Bay, Broadstairs!
