Stone Bay this week, directly across from The Bay Tree

The Bay Tree, currently surrounded with scaffolding
On the ground flooron on the right, we will place French Doors, leading from our sea-view restaurant onto our patio
On the right of the roof, we will add another triple aspect sea-view ‘turret’: Room 10 will not only have the best views in the hotel to the side, overlooking Stone Bay and our chalk cliffs, but will also benefit from it’s new ‘turret’!

Rrom 10 (bed to move to opposite wall, new triple-aspect sea-view turret to be added behind bed)

This shows Room 10 (previously Room 9) before we closed for refurbishment, with it’s fantastic views!. The bed will change position, we will open up the roof eaves behind the bed and add a triple aspect sea-view ‘turret’ (the bed will move to the wall to the left of this picture

This picture shows the steel bar between the front and rear parts of our sea-view restaurant, which will be removed

This is the rear half of our sea-view restaurant, with new doorway to the kitchen added to the right. By the doorway a small child’s bedframe we found in our attic can be seen – we’ll up-cycle this into something clever to be used in the hotel
This room is currently a site office for our builders

On our staircase, going from the ground to the first floor, the original lathe and plaster ceilings can be seen, where we will re-do ceilings and covings

Whilst our ceilings are down, we’re busy putting lots of cabling – electrical and CAT6 data cables – in place

Room 4 (formerly our single room 2) with it’s original fireplace to the right. We’ll add a new bathroom to the right-hand wall and oriel windows which will allow glimpses of the sea on either side of the fireplace

Aside from cables, there’s lots of new pipes being added – this is Room 9 with it’s triple aspect sea-view turret. On the left is the toilet flush frame, which will be hidden in the new bathroom

Aside from building and refurbishing, we’ve also taken time to go to the theatre – here seeing the stage version of BBC Radio 4’s ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’ at Margate Winter Gardens

We’ve also been enjoying some of Thanet’s beaches, here at Walpole Bay, Margate

Ben has also been making friends today on a walk in the lovely Kent market town of Faversham, just 40 minutes drive away
