Bay Tree Refurbishment Week 5

The Bay Tree is now closed for a major refurbishment, re-opening May 2017

We are still reachable at 01843 862502 and

We’re nearly done with clearing away the last of the rubble on the old owners extension

Inside the kitchen we’ve found some more retro wallpaper

In our attic, we found an old child’s bedframe – we’re going to upcyle and use somewhere – please contact us directly if you have any ideas!

We’ve also found a vertical gas-lamp pipe which had been hidden in the Room 6 chimey (our building is about 120 years old so this is perhaps not surprising!)

We’ve also been taking out the boarding on our landings, there for fire protection (we’ll use a sprinkler system instead so no longer need these) – there’s much more light coming through now!. The  wooden frame will be removed.

However, we don’t have the original spindles and rails where the boarding was – if anyone knows where we can get around 27 spindles and 4 solid wood rails to match what we have please let us know!

Really enjoying seeing how the refurbishment is going. Love seeing all the items that you are discovering. Are you keeping all the ‘bits and bobs’ and I love the wallpaper, to put in a little museum in your new library. Hope the work is all going smoothly and not too stressful for you and Ben.
