The Historical Holland House was once approached from the beach through a stone arched gate called the kingsgate once named Barthelmas Gate and renamed Kings Gate after the forced landing of King Charles I on ‘Kingsgate’ Bay due to a terrible storm.
This is all that remains of the set up of the gates, the main large gate on the beach has long been sealed.

Kingsgate is a spectacular cliff-top walk or short drive along stunning coastline from The Bay Tree
We’d recommend an afternoon there followed by refreshments & food in nearby pub/ restaurant TThe Captain Digby
